Can't you just get my logo and artwork from my website?

Unfortunately we can't. The quality is just too poor for use in printed mediums. Artwork used on the web is generally a very low resolution (72dpi) and we need the artwork to be at least 300dpi in order to output a professional quality advertisement for you. return to top

If I send you photos or other pieces of original artwork, can I get them back?

You sure can. Just send a request for us to return your artwork. when we mail out your proof, we will include any artwork we have received. return to top

Which digital file types do you accept? Do you prefer one over another?

Our Art Department accepts the following file types:
.cdr, .ai, .eps, .pdf, .psd, .tif, .jpg, .bmp
We work primarily in Corel Draw, so native .cdr files generally work best. If you cannot send Corel files, the best files types to send (in order of best to worst) are: .eps, .pdf, .psd, .tif, .jpg, and finally .bmp. We also use Adobe Illustrator version 10 (please save .eps files to Illustrator 8 legacy format to ensure compatibilty), and Adobe Photoshop version 7. Sorry, we do not support MS Publisher files. return to top

What resolution should I make make my digital files?

Please use 300 dpi/ppi for all artwork. return to top

What is the difference between a vector-based file and a pixel-based file?

Vector-based files use geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics. A pixel-based graphic, or raster graphic, is the representation of an image as an array of pixels, as it is typically used for the representation of photographic images. While this probably doesn't mean much to you, it makes a huge difference in the quality of your finished advertisement. If you send your logo to us as a pixel-based file and we need to resize it, it's very likely that the finished product will result in poor quality. However, If you send your logo as a vector-based file, our artists can enlarge it however big it needs to be while retaining the the very best in quality. A general rule of thumb to use when determining when to use vector or pixel-based files is that computer generated artwork should probably be sent in a vector format, while any and all photographs are acceptable as pixel-based files so long as their resolution is at least 300 dots/pixels per inch. return to top
